Rarotonga, Cook Islands

The beating heart of this little paradise will capture yours. Rarotonga, the hub of the Cook Islands, has so much to see and do, yet remains unspoilt. Let the warmth of the tropical sun envelop you, the scent of Frangipani wash over you and relax into the feeling of lying on a pristine white sand beach listening to the distant roar of waves crashing on the reef.

Once you’re in the Cook Islands the most pressing decisions you’ll face will be how to best enjoy this tropical paradise. Rarotonga, with 15,000 residents, is the most populated of the 15 islands in the Cook Islands Nation. This is where you’ll fly into and although it is locally known as the big smoke, you won’t find any traffic lights or buildings higher than a coconut tree. You’ll immediately appreciate the resort-like feeling that imbues the island. It is spectacular looking, dominated by a once mighty volcanic pyramid, jagged peaks and razorback ridges carpeted in lush green vegetation that fall into a turquoise lagoon.

Only 32 kilometres in circumference, it takes less than an hour to drive, scooter or bus right around – you’ll feel like you are in one big resort!
